This presentation expresses the rejection of all the social and environmental organizations Region and the country, besides the Totoral people directly affected by pollution that drives the project company CGX SA
The main grounds of appeal are related to the illegal separation of the project in two independent environmental studies, which prevented Evaluation Commission gauge the full impact involved in this mega project Port, Thermal power plant, desalination plant and field gathering ashes. Additionally, they report the illegal modification of the Central Castilla that being a polluting industry, was described by the Health Seremi as "Hassle" allowing it to fit the zoning of the area Punta de Cachos and thereby facilitating the awarded by the environmental permit.
This legal action is complementary to the Appeal for Protection, filed against Health Seremi Atacama, which is now pending before the same court, awaiting the releases of the health authority and that pursues void the illegal modification industrial classification of the project.
The march of hundreds of leaders throughout the region held at noon in Copiapo, culminated in the accession to the court filing of Deputies Lautaro Carmona and Albert Robles, Mayor of Vallenar Cristián Tapia, and Copiapo Vallenar Councillors, Members of the Commission CORE Environment Atacama, Rosa Ahumada president of Community Connections Neighborhood of Copiapo, Jorge Godoy ; of Coordinator Water Defense Copiapo, Antonio Llaucan CONFUSAM and Javier Castillo president regional CUT, among others.
