The Committee for the Defense of Life and Natural Heritage Panguipulli, reports to the community at a meeting held on Monday 28 March Commission for Environmental Assessment in the region of Los Ríos, fined the company BIOGEOSUR with revocation of Resolution Environmental Qualification authorizing the operation of the plant Biohazardous Waste Incineration . That is, this incinerator not work in the commune Panguipulli.
As appreciating resolution Commission adopted under the sanction process against BIOGEOSUR, however, reiterate that the fundamentals in this case, is the severe pollution that would have produced the incineration plant, causing serious health effects of population, natural resources and environment of our community.
This is an achievement of the mobilization and community organization and a victory for everyone in Panguipulli, with whom we share the defense of our territory.
The Committee promoted a process of information and citizen participation, created teams and working committees, public meetings and demonstrations conducted and reported to state services, the Comptroller General of Republic, the Environmental Assessment Committee, the Ministry of Environment, the Stockholm Convention, among others.
value working together of the Red Panguipulli Environmental Organizations formed by the Parliament of Koz Koz, Environmentalist Front Panguipulli and this committee, coordination with national and international agencies as Young Tehuelches de Valdivia and GAIA, and support backed by more permanent citizen than 3,000 signatures opposing the operation of this highly polluting incinerator plant.
At the same time, as a committee we should point out that in this process we request the support of parliamentarians elected in our district and Valdivia, but got no answer, once again away from real needs citizenship.
