Millions and millions of dollars spent on trying to appear as a socially and environmentally responsible is just trying to reverse what we've done a pure pulse organizations and individuals who defend life in the Huasco Valley since 2001.
That year, Barrick submitted the first version of the Pascua Lama project to weak regional environmental institutions de Atacama, and the EIA, the transnational failed glaciers. That was his first lie irresponsible.
Since then the glaciers were appropriated by the community as a symbol of life against Barrick's proposal to destroy them. Resistance read thousands of pages of pure mining techniques to denounce the omission of the crime. Then came an incredible Glacier Management Plan where mining "scientific" that could blow up a chunk of glacier to put in another dimension slightly lower and thus ensure the existence of glaciers. After that was completely buried Barrick image not only in the Huasco Valley, but also internationally.
The cost of this first lie was far more irresponsible than estimated at first and now well over the millions of dollars spent during the month of March this year. Today the resistance against the transnational not only still alive and ready to fight like ten years ago, but has expanded to the point where I dare say, the publicity campaign of this crime has been absolutely harmless to the Chileans and Chile. For there to be very naive to believe that cheap little speech of a multinational gold mining with high tonnage trucks and lives with clean water from a river, farmers with healthy fruit and old enjoying a quiet evening without blasting noise and no pollution. Nobody really believes it. All this accompanied by the repetition of "We Barrick", "our commitment to responsible mining" with a deep voice as God.

But it also starts a month before the annual meeting of shareholders, not just to advertise and disseminate their message liar, but also to replenish as much media possible and thus prevent resistance might give some opinion through the media they were receiving money from the Canadian transnational.
This is usually called censorship, media co-optation or less servile and sold. But in Chile it is simply something normal for a company that sells nothing in the country advertised by the major media. I say nothing because Barrick will not sell in this campaign has just washed his own image, even made us an attractive offer to buy the gold extracted from the bowels of America.
